Child loss grief wall exercise

After the loss of a child, some find themselves building walls around their grief. These walls are not signs of weakness. In the beginning, they may be built for protection, helping us survive the overwhelming pain, emotions, and uncertainty that come with loss.

The Child Loss Grief Wall Exercise is designed to gently explore the walls that have been built and help identify whether we may have been sitting behind them, isolated, for too long.

Grief is a lifelong journey, and our grief wall may never be completely gone. That is okay. The desire of this exercise is to help those who feel stuck behind their walls slowly allow light in, one breath and one step at a time.

Healing does not mean forgetting. It means learning how to carry both love and loss while allowing light to shine through the cracks.

Churches & Ministries

For churches, ministries, counselors, support groups, and healing providers, having this exercise readily available can create an opportunity for meaningful connection and support. Not everyone is ready to talk about their grief, attend a support group, or ask for help. Sometimes a simple handout placed in the right person's hands at the right time can become the first step toward healing.

Providing this exercise as a printed resource allows individuals to engage with it privately, at their own pace, and when they are ready. It offers a gentle pathway for reflection, helping them recognize where they are in their grief journey and encouraging them to seek additional support when needed.
